Nur Ferrante & Mark Gibson

Nur Ferrante

Nur Ferrante is a professional linguist, healthcare provider, mentor and poet from Spain. Nur has been working in medical translation and healthcare for over 20 years and specialises in linguistic validation (LV). She has worked in the field of LV for over 10 years for CROs, eCOA providers and LSPs and provides linguistic validation services, mentoring and holistic business consultancy. Presently, she works primarily providing health communication, PVR and LV services for individuals and organizations. She covers the full service for the translation and cultural adaptation of Clinical Outcome Assessments (COAs) from English into Spanish for Spain; and with her partners, she coordinates multiple languages projects under her professional independent organization. Nur is a lover of diversity, anthropology and multiculturalism and is highly specialized in the cross-cultural adaptation of COAs. She is also the Director of Business Development & Research Horizons at Gibson Research Consultancy (GRC) Ltd. Additionally, she provides health communication, PVR and LV training with Mark Gibson to companies and professionals within the Art of Diversity School, and offers holistic coaching for business and personal development. She has a podcast called Patient Voice & Linguistic Validation Café, created with Mark Gibson and their students, which covers topics related with health communication, PVR and LV with the main focus of creating community and embracing cultures and diversity.

Mark Gibson

Mark Gibson is the owner and (reluctant) CEO of Gibson Research Consultancy (GRC) Ltd. Based in Leeds, United Kingdom. GRC is a small company with a broad reach: it has staff across four continents, conduct Patient Voice-related projects in over 190 countries and we partner with over 23000 professional research and health professionals around the world. Its business model is typically to ‘white label’ for bigger partner companies, which means that they are possibly the most prolific purveyor of services like cognitive debriefing for COA or usability testing for eCOA that nobody has ever heard of. Mark’s interest in the Patient Voice spans three decades and has seen a number of manifestations of this. He became immersed in Patient Voice research (it was simply called ‘research’ then) upon embarking on an academic career and specialised early on in hard-to-reach and marginalised communities. Mark is also co-director at Art of Diversity, and co-host of the Patient Voice & Linguistic Validation Café podcast, a platform for community learning and discussion.
